Greetings from the Hartzell's
Sharing some PAST history & PRESENT changes.

Most people assume our last name is Barefoot,
however, the story behind "Barefoot Farm"
has a different origin.
In the early 1980's, while dating, and on into our married years, we
enjoyed patronizing this farm, which was
"Luther Crone's Produce".
We would pick berries, buy other vegetables and enjoy
conversation, hearing stories and observing what so
many locals knew. Strawberries were
grown here and marketed by his family since the early 1930's.
Luther was a true farmer, growing just about everything.
He was also a great story teller, knowledgeable history buff
and a good salesman.
Luther was also know to rarely wear shoes.
Whether hoeing weeds, or driving a tractor, you would see him
BAREFOOT, even in his late years- in his eighties!
Though it was a dream, to own a farm and raise our children there,
never did we think that God would orchestrate the many
miraculous details that led to us being able to purchase
this farm in 2001.
A new name for the farm came easy. Our children, then ages 3 and 7,
didn't enjoy wearing shoes. And what better
tribute to the man who was well known
as always being BAREFOOT.
It was our desire to continue the strawberry farm tradition. We did
so with all our heart, improving things like irrigation, offering
credit card options and adding an ice cream shop with sandwiches.
Fall included PYO pumpkins, as well.
The best part of it all was seeing so many families
-making memories
-noticing God's creation and
-encouraging us with such kindness.
Things are a bit different now.
After 24 years
we felt it was necessary to give the fields
a rest and do the same ourselves.
We are continuing to offer PYO Red & Black Raspberries
and we will have fresh asparagus (already picked) in early spring.
For now, however, less field work will allow us to concentrate on
other important things like our family, grandchildren, aging parents, David's additional full time career of helping others with Medicare choices and possibly new adventures that God has in store.
